In 1921, the 41st Division was allocated to Pacific Northwest states. Its units returned to
National Guard status but retained divisional organisation. Each state was instructed to form
divisional units.
Major General George A. White was appointed to command of the division in 1929 and eventually
led it into World War II. As the international situation worsened in the 1930s, the intensity
and urgency of training in the 41st increased. In 1937, the 41st paired with the 3rd Division
for Corps manoeuvres at Fort Lewis. In these manoeuvres, a "Blue Army" drawn from the
41st Division attempted a combat crossing of the Nisqually River, which was defended by a
"Red Army" under the command of Brigadier General George Marshall, then the commander of
the 5th Infantry Brigade at Vancouver Barracks. The 41st Division's mission was accomplished
by a night crossing of the river.[2]:1
The 41st Division's annual summer camp at Fort Lewis in June and July 1940 was extended from
two weeks to three,[2]:1 and on 16 September 1940 with President Franklin D. Roosevelt's signing
of the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, the 41st Division was inducted into Federal
service for one year. By this time, a National Guard recruiting campaign had raised the strength
of the division to 14,000 - still well short of its war establishment strength of 18,500.[2]:3
The difference was made up by 7,000 selective service men, the first of whom arrived in
February 1941.[2]:5
The division was initially accommodated in a tented camp known as Camp Murray until the
construction of new permanent accommodation nearby Fort Lewis could be completed.[2]:3
Delayed by strike action at sawmills in Washington and Oregon and by maritime workers, the
project fell behind schedule,[3] and the entire division was not accommodated in the new
barracks until April 1941.[2]:6
The 41st Division was grouped with the 3rd Division as part of IX Corps. In May 1941, the
two divisions moved to the Hunter Liggett Military Reservation where June war games pitted
them against Major General Joseph Stilwell's 7th Division and the 40th Division. Large scale
manoeuvres continued in August on the Olympic Peninsula, with IX Corps defending Tacoma,
Washington until the two divisions from California could arrive to assist.[2]:9-11
General White died on 23 November 1941 and was replaced by Brigadier General Horace H. Fuller,
the former commander of the 3rd Division Artillery.[2]:12 Promoted to Major General on 15
December 1941, he would remain commander until June 1944.[2]:191
Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the 41st Infantry Division was deployed to defend the
coastline of Washington and Oregon against a possible Japanese landing.[2]:17 The 218th Field
Artillery was at sea en route to the Philippines; it was turned back to San Francisco and
eventually rejoined the division
The 41st Division was officially renamed the 41st Infantry Division on 2 August 1941.[2]:9
In January and February 1942, it was reorganised as a "triangular" division, losing the 161st
Infantry, which eventually joined the 25th Infantry Division, and other units

The 43rd Infantry Division was first activated in 1923, with the division headquarters in
Hartford, Connecticut.[1] The 43rd Division consisted of two infantry brigades, the 85th in
Connecticut, and the 86th in Vermont. The 85th Brigade included the 102nd and 169th Infantry
Regiments, both based in Connecticut. The 86th Brigade was made up of the 172nd Infantry Regiment
in Vermont and the 103rd Infantry Regiment in Maine. In addition, the 68th Field Artillery Brigade
was based in Providence, Rhode Island.
In February 1941 the 43rd entered federal service for one year, a tour that was extended after
the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. A year later, the 43rd Division was reorganized into a
triangular division, with each brigade headquarters abolished and artillery regiments reduced
to battalions. At the same time, the 102nd Infantry Regiment was detached from the Division and
deployed to the Pacific theater as a separate unit. The 43rd Division trained at Camp Blanding,
Florida, Camp Shelby, Mississippi and Fort Ord, California, then embarked for the South Pacific.
The division, minus the 172nd Regimental Combat Team, arrived in New Zealand in October 1942.

45th Signals Company

On 16 September 1940, the 45th Infantry Division was federalized into the Active duty force.[5]
The division's two combat commands, the 89th and 90th Brigades were not activated, as the Army
favored smaller and more versatile regimental commands for the new conflict.[6] The Division was
based around the 157th Infantry Regiment, the 179th Infantry Regiment, and the 180th Infantry
Regiment.[7] Also assigned to the division were the 158th, 160th, 171st, and 189th Field
Artillery Battalions, the 46th Signal Company, the 700th Ordinance Company, the 45th Quartermaster
Company, the 45th Reconnaissance Troop, the 120th Engineer Combat Battalion, and the 120th Medical
Battalion.[7]

Sicily

After activation, the division trained at Fort Sill, Camp Barkeley, Fort Devens, Pine Camp and
Camp Pickett.[8] The division trained in amphibious assault techniques at Fort Devens in
preparation for the invasion of Italy. On 8 June 1943, the division sailed for the Mediterranean
region, combat loaded.[9] The 45th Division landed in North Africa on 22 June 1943, and trained
at Arzew, French Morocco.[10] By this time, the allies had largely secured the African theater
and the decision was made to invade Sicily to the north. For this mission it was assigned to II
Corps of the Seventh United States Army.[11] The invasion would place 180,000 allied troops on
the island, against 230,000 mostly weak Italian troops and two reconstituted German divisions

During the late 1930s the world situation worsened. In September 1940 the division was ordered
into federal service for one year to engage in a training program. The division's time in federal
service began at Fort Sill. At the end of the first year they had participated in the Louisiana
maneuvers. The Thunderbirds trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Camp Barkeley, Texas, Fort Devens,
Massachusetts, Pine Camp, New York, and Camp Pickett, Virginia. They soon entered action in World
War II. On July 10, 1943, the division participated in their first of four amphibious landings.
In all the division served 511 days in combat; fighting their way across Sicily, Italy, France,
and Germany

Medium Tanks
М1 - 26
Medium Tanks М2А1 не 94, а меньше: в 1940 - 6 и по август 1941 еще 88. Любопытно, но в отчете о военном производстве, где расписано ВСЕ, этих танков нет вообще!!! На эту дату их было штук 75-80
